My First Ever Blog Post

Posted by: admin on June 6, 2008

It is a delicious feeling to begin something new, to taste an unknown experience for the first time!  So I am “taste-testing” this new adventure called blogging today.

I am CharMaine Beleele,a photographer, a writer and a communications teacher.  I am also a wife, married to my partner in the photography business.

Welcome to my three worlds, the photography studio, Lois Lane’s writing desk, and the communications classroom! I should begin by explaining why I call this blog Lois Lane’s Adventures In Photography.

Why Lois Lane? In the first place, let’s set the record straight, she was a journalist of some repute, long before she became Superman’s girlfriend! To make a long story short, perhaps I caught the nickname because, when I am “on assignment,” I wear a slightly ragged 1940’s hat, sort of an Indiana Jones style fedora, but that is just a surface reason!

I admire Lois Lane because she was an adventurous woman of great energy and enthusiasm, just like me!  She went to any lengths to get her exciting stories, and she was part of a career that was formerly a “man’s world.” I am sure Jimmy was not always nearby with a camera, and I have surmised that she probably had a good eye for photography!

Unlike Lois Lane, my photography business individualizes me and adds another dimension to my writing career. Also, unlike her, my stories are usually published in Rangefinder Magazine, not the Daily Planet. Rangefinder is a professional photography publication.

If you love photographing people, you will enjoy checking it out at http://www.wppionline.com

(That stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.)

Click on the picture of the magazine’s cover, and see amazing articles about photography and photographers!  Some of those stories were written by me!
From Angel Kissed Studio:

Time management allows me to enjoy all my identities! So….Although I will be mentioning other areas of my life, like writing in my Lois Lane Identity, and teaching speech-communication in my Professor “B” identity at the University of Arkansas!

From The Shooting Room:  I intend to focus this blog on Photography and on the art, business and pleasure that being a photographer brings into my life!

I thrive on the excitement of gifted amateurs in my photography and scrap-booking classes at Michael’s Arts and Crafts Store. As you can see from the photo below, my students come to class with any type of camera whatsoever. What I teach, hopefully is “The Eye,” seeing the light and learning the artistic principles underlying the craft of photography. Likewise the enthusiasm of my studio’s private students invigorates me. With all of us, whether we capture images for love or money or both, it’s all about immortalizing the story, freezing the moment, preserving the memories.

It is here that I will show my personal work, work I do for myself, to grow as an artist, and part of it will include my own family.  Sometimes sharing assignments blends teaching and learning together. That is Serendipity!

I can not teach or speak everywhere, so it is here that I will record my thoughts about photography, my tips, favored hints, experiments and experiences. Since I attend many photography workshops, and I meet many, many photographers. I hope that eventually, I will feature thoughts and images from them, both the famous and the unknown, the power professionals and the gifted amateurs!
